Term 2 Week 6

Chestnut Class learning for term 2 week 6

We have the last 2 parts of our stories to complete this week.  We will continue to edit and improve our work with as  much independence as is possible.  The children are really challenging themselves to include all the writing features we have been practising this term.  At the same time, we are designing book covers for our finished stories.

In our spelling sessions we will working on words with the suffixes -en, -ed, -ing and -er.  We will also be continuing to identify and use fronted adverbials in our grammar sessions.

Having completed end of unit activities in maths, we are going to do some consolidation of addition and subtraction to ensure that we are ready to move on to multiplication and division.  We will, as usual, be practising times tables in a variety of ways.

This week we will be interviewing Father John about how belief in the Trinity affects the life of a Christian.  We are also going to use our understanding of the accounts of the Gospel written by Luke and John to design 2 very contrasting Christmas cards.  I look forward to some more superb work from them.

Mrs Smallcombe will continue with some creative Christmas projects on Friday and the children will also be working on festive decorative items at other points in the week!
