Term 2 Week 1

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 31st October 2022.

This week in Phonics we will be learning about words with the ‘oy digraph in them (such as toy, enjoy, boy, royal and annoy). We will also be learning to read the words ‘would’ and ‘want’ and to spell the words ‘have and ‘like’.

In Maths we will be continuing to learn about addition and this week we will be investigating number bonds to 10, adding amounts together and adding more on.

In English we will be starting some work around the story of ‘You Be You’ by Linda Kranz. We will be using this as a base for our English, Art and PSHE work this week. In PSHE we will be thinking about what makes each of us unique and special, such as what special skills and talents we have. In English we will be using the format of the story to write sentences using the words “Some fish___”.  We will then move onto using the sentence opener “Some children___”. In Art we will be designing and making colourful fish inspired by the fish in the story and the children will also be finishing off their self-portraits.

Willow class continue to have PE on Wednesday morning and Thursday morning this term. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on those days.

In our Computing lesson the children will be continuing to practise logging on and using the keyboard and mouse to create a picture and some text.

In RE we will be starting a new topic about why Christmas matters to Christians. This week we will talk about what the word “Christmas” makes us think about and how our families and the people around us celebrate Christmas.

If you have any questions or need help with anything please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
