Term 1 Week 4

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 26th September 2022.

This week we are going to focus on the book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker in our English work. This is a wordless book with detailed illustrations of a magical world that exists through a door.  This week we will be discussing some of the pictures from the start of the book and thinking of adjectives to describe the scene where the girl comes into the woods

In Phonics we will be revisiting the digraphs ee, igh, oa and oo. We will also be reading and writing the tricky words we, be, me, was and my.

In Maths we will be continuing to focus on the numbers 0 to 10. This week we will be finding one less, comparing groups of objects and using the terms ‘fewer’, ‘more’, and ‘the same as’ in our comparisons.

In RE we will be discussing examples of how Christians put their beliefs about God into practice in worship.

In Art we will be looking at self-portraits by different artists and starting to paint our own self-portraits. In Topic work we will be talking about the weather and how it changes in Autumn. We will also be completing a daily weather chart.

PE is on Wednesday morning and Thursday morning. The children will be continuing to develop their ball skills in team games. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on these days.

Our class assembly takes place on Thursday 29th September at 9:05am in the school hall. Please join us if you are able to. Next week, a phonics talk for parents/carers is taking place on Tuesday 4th October at 2.30pm in the Willow Classroom.
