Term 6 Week 1

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 6th June 2022.

This week, the children in Willow Class are completing a Phonics assessment. The children will be working individually with Mrs Duncombe to read some nonsense and real words. In our main phonics lessons we will be learning about the ‘tch’ trigraph in words such as match and fetch.

In English we will be continuing to use the story ‘The Great Explorer’ by Chris Judge and this week we will be writing a postcard about Tom’s trip to the North Pole. In Maths we will be starting a new topic and learning to count forwards and backwards up to 100. As part of our Maths fluency work we will be recalling number bonds for 6, 7, 8 and 9.

In RE we will be learning about the Hindu story of the Pearls and the Crow and completing some activities for this. As part of Time and Place work, we will be talking about Antarctica and discussing some of its human and physical features. We will also be talking about compass directions (North, South, East and West). In PE on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, we will be continuing to develop our athletic skills.
