Term 3 Week 5

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 7th February 2022

In our Phonics lessons this week we will be learning about ways to make the ‘ai’ sound (ay, a-e and eigh) and will revisit the ‘ph’ sound. In English, we will be writing animal fact files including animals from different animal groups (Reptiles, Mammals and Birds) and with different diets (Herbivores, Omnivores and Carnivores). We will use what we have learnt about non-chronological reports to structure our fact files.

In Maths we will start learning about subtraction and using number bonds to help us problem solve. We will also be comparing number sentences using the terms greater than, less than and equal to.

Safer Internet Day 2022 takes place this week and the theme is ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’. We will be hearing the story of ‘Digiduck and the Magic Castle’ and thinking about online safety advice we should be mindful of, such as always asking for help if something pops-up on the screen, keeping passwords safe and  always asking permission before downloading something new.

In RE we will be thinking about whether the ‘Good News’ that Jesus shared (forgiveness, friendship, love and peace) is only good news for Christians or whether anyone can learn from exploring these themes..

In PE we will be performing our dance routines to Acorn Class on Wednesday afternoon and continuing to develop our ball control skills on Thursday morning.

If you have any questions or need help with anything please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
