Term 1 Week 5

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 4th October 2021. This picture is the rainbow and castle we made as part of our work on Quest by Aaron Becker.

We are really looking forward to celebrating Harvest Festival in church on Tuesday morning. Each class will be taking gifts to the church for the foodbank.  They particularly need: tinned potatoes, tinned hot dogs, pasta ‘n’ sauce sachets, soap, antibacterial hand wash, laundry tablets (not pods), tinned soup and sugar.  If you have any contributions, please bring them in Monday or Tuesday morning. Thank you in advance for contributing to this worthy cause.

This week in Phonics we will be learning about the phonemes ur, er, oi and ow. In Maths, we are going to spend some time reviewing the Place Value learning that we have completed so far this term. We will also be learning about part-whole models as part of our maths work. In English we will be writing a recount about our visit to the church and writing a class poem about Harvest.

In RE we will be thinking about what we have learnt so far this term and will be thinking, talking and asking questions about whether we can learn anything from the story of The Lost Son for ourselves. Willow class have PE on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on those days.

In our Computing lesson we will be talking about technology that we encounter inside and outside school. In Science we will talk about seasonal changes and the signs that Autumn is here.

The children will also have the opportunity to create their Christmas card design this week for the PTFA fund-raising challenge, which should be fun.

If you have any questions or need help with anything please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
