Term 4 Week 5

Here is an overview for week commencing 22nd March 2021.

This week in English we will be creating and describing our own superheroes. We will also be starting to plan and write a superhero adventure. We will be looking at Bob McLeod’s Superhero Alphabet to get some inspiration for our superheroes and be thinking about what super powers they have and who their arch-enemy might be.

In Maths we will be solving some word problems related to comparing the mass of objects and will then move on to some work on capacity and volume.

In RE we are continuing our work on Salvation and the events leading up to Jesus’ death. This week we will also be thinking about ways that Christians celebrate Easter. On Thursday the children will be creating more artwork inspired by Beatriz Milhazes.

PE will be on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Please can you ensure that your child brings their PE kit with them to change into on these days. This week we will be continuing to complete athletics activities as part of a virtual inter-school competition that we are taking part in.

During this week we will also be doing some phonics assessments to help us identify any phonemes that we need to revisit. Home Learning this week will focus on ‘or’ and ‘ore’ graphemes.

Reading books will be changed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please remember to write “finished” next to the book title in your child’s reading record if their book needs to be changed.  If your child is struggling with particular words or a particular book, please indicate this in their reading record so that we are aware and can make adjustments.
