Can you make a balloon helicopter?

You be wowed by the giant bubbles and whizzing balloons.

Reading

Remember to read for at least 20 minutes at home today. This can be any type of text – fiction book, non-fiction, comic, newspaper, etc. A reading comprehension featuring the ay sound has been included with this blog for you to complete.

Phonics

Today we are revisiting the digraph ‘igh’ sound, which is in words like light, high and bright. Below are some videos to watch going through some ‘igh’ sound words.

igh sound / trigraph - Mr Thorne Does Phonics - YouTube

Geraldine the Giraffe learns /igh/ - YouTube

Talk about the ‘igh’ sound.  Can you say the sound?  Can you write the sound? Look at the activity sheet attached to this blog. Fill in the missing ‘igh’ sound for each word. Try reading each word. Can you write a sentence with one of the ‘igh’ words in?

Maths

Our focus today is on comparing lengths and height.

First, watch the learning video about length: Spr1.8.1 - Compare lengths activity on Vimeo

Find a spoon in your home. Now find 3 things that are longer than your spoon and 3 things that are shorter than your spoon. Remember to think about the mathematical language you saw in the video.

Now watch the learning video about height: Spr1.8.2 - Compare heights activity on Vimeo

Can you find 3 things that are taller than you? Can you find 3 things that are shorter than you? Can you find something that is the same height as you? Good luck.

RE: Humanism

We are continuing to learn about Humanism and this week our key question is: ‘How do humanists believe we can be happy?’ Work through the RE Home Learning Pack attached to this blog and complete each of the activities.
