Monday 8th February

8:50am- Live Registration:

Remember to tune in to take part in our first live registration. Mr M will be there to welcome you, take the register and talk you through today’s learning. If you have any questions or do not understand something about today’s learning, please ask. This is a great opportunity for us to share ideas and ask questions.     

 

9:00am- Live Maths Lesson:

Today we are going to focus on recognising coins and notes. First take part in the live lesson. Then have a go at these activities.

Activity 1: How many different ways can you make 50p? You can use real coins or cut out the coins in the attached sheet.

If you would like to watch a recorded version of the lesson, we will add it shortly after the session finishes and it will remain active for 24 hours after filming.

 

Reading-

Remember to read at home for at least 20 minutes today. Please also have a go at the attached reading comprehension activity all about the Titanic. Remember to pick a level of challenge that suits you. If you need advice on which level to choose, please do not hesitate to ask.

 

Writing-

Activity 1: Go and spend some time in the snow!

What better way to get you into the mindset of someone visiting a Frost Fair then to explore the snowy and icy conditions outside your house. 

Think carefully- how does the blanket of snow change your familiar surroundings? 

Can you think of any descriptive words or phrases to describe what you can see and hear? 

When you get home, record some of your best descriptive words and phrases to send in to us. We will add them to the blog and use them in our diary writing later in the week. 

 

Activity 2: 

Today we are going to make a plan for our next diary entry from the point of view of Samuel Pepys. Start by watching this learning video in which Mr M models how to make your plan:

Now it is time to make your own plan! Get a big piece of paper (You can stick 2 smaller pieces together if you need to). Stick on the 8 sentences that you wrote on Friday. If you didn’t manage to write all 8 sentences, feel free to pick some from help sheet provided. Make sure you leave a big gap between each sentence that you stick in.

Now think carefully about the extra sentences that you want to add to your plan. Stick on pictures to show if you want to add detail about what he could see, smell, hear or feel.

Once your plan is complete, take a photo and send it in to us so we can give you some feedback.

If you end up spending too much time exploring the snow and do not not have time to make a plan for tomorrow, don't worry! We will post Mr M's plan on the blog to help you catch up.  

 

Number Fluency-

Today we are going to focus on recalling number facts for adding and subtracting single digit numbers.

Now use a 10 grid and counters to systematically make a list of all the number bonds for the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Now test yourself on these number bonds. How many of these number bonds do you know? Which ones do you still need to learn? 

 

P.E.- 

Today we are going to continue with our gymnastics unit of study. Today we are going to focus on travelling.

In this lesson, we will learn how to link the basic balances with travelling movements. We will also learn how to perform a safe warm-up and cool-down. Please note this lesson will require some physical exercise and additional equipment. Please see the equipment slide near the start of the lesson video and make sure your child is adequately supervised when equipment is required. Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring that children follow the correct safety advice provided at the start of this lesson and the instructions the teacher gives during the lesson. Parents and carers are responsible for supervising activities where required and for seeking medical advice in advance if your child has a medical condition that may prevent them taking part in physical activity.
