Written Homework to be completed by Tuesday 13^th October 2026

1. Please learn the following words for a spelling test. This week we are learning words that are homophones and near homophones:

aisle   isle   lesson   lesson   passed   past   peak   peek   precede   proceed

2. This week I would like you to write sentences containing each word to show that you understand the meaning.  If you do not know the meaning, please look up the word in the dictionary.  Can you use commas, full stops and capital letters correctly?  Can you use exclamation marks and question marks?  Please refer to the ‘Monarchy’ Sheet that gives different strategies for how to learn spellings.  This has been stuck in the front of your child’s Homework Book.
3. English/Science Task: For your research this week, find out as much as you can about the Moon.  How far away is it from the Earth?  How big is it?  Why does the Moon shine?  What are the different phases of the Moon?  You can show your information in the form of a poster or fact file that contain these key facts.
4. Online Tasks: For Purple Mash I have set you Chapter 5 of Alien Hotel (our new e-book). Your login for Purple Mash has been stuck in your Homework Book.  You will need to click ‘Serial Mash’ and you will find the book.
