Term 6 Week 2

Here is an outline of your learning for term 6, week 2:

Term 6 Week 2 – overview

On Wednesday morning we are going to the Assembly Halls with year 5, to attend a workshop with author and comic illustrator Jamie Smart.  This is an exciting opportunity!

We have ukulele on Monday afternoon with Mr Lawrence.

Spelling and grammar – we will be practising words from our individual spelling list.

In English, we will be finishing neat copies of our Beowulf-inspired stories.  We are also creating front covers so that we can ‘publish’ these stories.  We will also be completing a written reflection on this piece of work and looking at the progress we have made since September!

In Maths, we will continue to work on fractions.  This week we will be converting improper fractions into mixed numbers, looking at equivalent fractions on a number line and exploring equivalent fraction families.  We will also complete the Multiplication Tables Check online.  It is important to keep revisiting times tables to ensure that they are embedded.

In Science, we are looking at animal teeth and learning about food chains, using terms such as producer, consumer, prey and predator.

In RE, we will be beginning a new unit on Hinduism.  We will be learning about where and when the religion originated.

In History, we will be learning about how Anglo-Saxon society was structured.  Pupils have shown such enthusiasm and curiosity in their learning.  We have had some really rich discussions.

PE is on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon.

Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Please contact me if you have any queries using the class email address:
