Term 6, week 1

I hope you have all had a lovely half-term break. As we go into the last term of year 3, can I please remind everyone about hats, sun cream and water bottles! The weather seems a little unpredictable this coming week, but we will try to spend some time on the field if possible.

In Maple Class this week:

Whole Class Reading: this week we will be reading the poem ‘The Spider and the Fly’, by Mary Howitt. We will discuss the vocabulary and content, with the children working as a whole class and in small groups, to retrieve information and make inferences.

Maths: we are continuing with fractions and money again this week, looking at fractions on a number line.

English: we will read more of the book, The Egyptian Cinderella, whilst also investigating Aesop’s fables.

Art: we are continuing to make our puppets.

Science and Computing will continue as normal. Mrs Duncombe will be leading the science unit, all about flowering plants.

Homework will be as usual on Tuesday, and is due back Monday 8th June. Please note, it is not necessary to complete all the quizzes on Purple Mash! Please choose one of the options.

If you have any questions this week, or at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards

Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
