Term 5 Week 5

Here is an outline of your learning for term 5, week 5:
Term 5 Week 4 – overview
We have our ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence as usual this week.
Spelling and grammar – we will be recapping words we have learnt so far this term.
We are continuing with our whole class guided reading text, Lob. Lob went to rest in a park after escaping the underground. There he is spotted by a teenager who feels she recognises him. After her friends laugh at her, she chooses not to see him, which makes Lob feel very strange.
This is SATs week and as a result, we will be based in the hall with year 5 for the morning sessions. This gives us a wonderful opportunity to work on composing and playing music together. Our late mornings and afternoons will be spent back in our classroom. We wish all the year 6 students lots of luck this week.
In RE, we will be working on the Gospel unit, thinking about the kind of world that Jesus wanted. This week we will be linking our learning about parables to work done by Christian charities who encourage Jesus’s words to be lived out.
In History, we will be learning about the Picts and the Scots who lived in Britain during the time of the Romans and when the Anglo-Saxons invaded.
PE is on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon. This term we are doing athletics and cricket.
Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
