Term 4 Week 6

Here is an outline of your learning for term 4, week 6:

Term 4 Week 6 – overview

Don’t forget that it is our whole-school-sponsored walk on Wednesday afternoon!  This is a really fun way to raise money towards the cost of our brilliant show.

Spelling and grammar – we will be practising the spellings we have learnt this term.

We are continuing with our whole class guided reading text, Lob.  Lob has been trapped inside a hamper by a gardener at the Chelsea Flower Show.  How will he escape, and will Lucy ever find him again?

In English, we will be dipping our toes into poetry writing, inspired by the book Catalysts, by Pie Corbett.

In Maths, we will be completing our multiplication and division unit with a lesson on efficient multiplication.  We will complete an end of unit assessment and revisit any areas that need further work.  On Thursday we dedicate time to working towards our personal times tables targets.  Regular, short burst practise at home will really support this.  Each week, pupils are progressing towards their personal targets, which is very encouraging.

In RE we will be beginning a new unit on Salvation, by addressing the question ‘why do Christians call the day Jesus died Good Friday?’  We will link some of the events of Maundy Thursday to what how Christians remember and reflect in church now.  We will also think about things that we think are important and what we would stand up for.

In Science, we will bending our States of Matter unit with an assessment.

PE is on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon.

Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
