Term 4 Week 2

Here is an outline of your learning for term 4, week 2:
Term 4 Week 2 – overview
We have ukulele on Monday afternoon with Mr Lawrence.
Spelling and grammar – we will be learning words with an ous ending. We will also be working on adverbials of time.
We are continuing with our whole class guided reading text, Lob. Lob has moved on from the farm where he had been an invisible helper for lambing season, and has taken to the open road, encountering a motorway service station for the first time!
In English, we will be focusing on learning lines and lyrics for our upcoming show, Wind in the Willows. This is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to perform for an audience in a real theatre. The past two shows have proved to be highly memorable, and it has been a privilege to witness the children grow in confidence and realise what they can achieve. Both classes have made a brilliant start to rehearsals, and we are looking forward to our singalong session on Tuesday with Luke and Lucy from the Trinity! We will also be spending time creating props for the show.
In Maths, we will continue to work on our second multiplication and division unit. This week we will consolidate multiplying 3-digit numbers using the formal method. As this is a very key objective, we are spending extra time on it to ensure we are secure in our understanding and application. We will then move on to the division of 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. On Thursday we dedicate time to working on our personal times tables targets. Regular, short burst practise at home will really support this. Each week, pupils are progressing towards their personal targets, which is very encouraging.
In RE, we will be beginning a new unit on Salvation, by addressing the question ‘why do Christians call the day Jesus died Good Friday?’ We will recap the events of Holy Week before sharing our initial ideas about this question. We will then consider the role Judas had in this story and think about why he betrayed Jesus.
In Science, we will be investigating melting points using dark, milk and white chocolate!
PE is on Tuesday morning (singalong with Trinity this week) and Thursday afternoon.
Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
