Term 3, week 5

In Maple Class this week:

On Wednesday, we will be having a special ‘Friendship’ session with the Mental Health Team.

English: this week, we are continuing our new unit, based on the book ‘King of the Sky’, by Nicola Davies. We will be completing some descriptive writing and will begin looking at direct speech punctuation.

Maths: we are continuing the multiplication unit, focusing on multiplying and dividing by four and then eight.

Whole Class Reading: this week, we will be an extract from ‘Sam Wu Is Not Afraid Of Zombies’ by Katie and Kevin Tsang. The children will investigate the vocabulary, retrieve information and summarise the information, in pairs, individually and as a whole class.

Art: this week, we will be continuing the portrait unit, including investigating the art of Lucian Freud.

RE: building on from last week, we will be investigating further aspects of how Sikhs worship.

Time and Place: we will investigate the features of volcanoes.

PE: we only have PE on Friday this week, due to a change in the timetable on Wednesday. We will be continuing the gymnastics unit.

In addition, we will also be doing Science and Computing with Mrs Banner.

Homework will be issued Tuesday as normal, and is due back the following Monday. In addition, please send your children in with their reading records on Mondays and Thursdays. If your child needs a book changed on other days, we will do our best to accommodate this.

If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards

Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
