Term 3 Week 3

Here is an outline of your learning for term 3, week 3:

Term 3 Week 3 – overview

Spelling and grammar – we will be working on words ending with ‘ssion’.  We will be using all our spelling and grammar skills to edit and improve our Escape from Pompeii stories too!

This week is assessment week.  We will be completing some tests in arithmetic, reasoning, reading comprehension and doing an independent writing exercise linked to the work we have done on Pompeii.

In Maths, we will begin our second multiplication and division unit.  On Thursday we dedicate time to working on our personal times tables targets.  Regular, short burst practise at home will really support this.  Each week, pupils are progressing towards their personal targets, which is very encouraging.

In RE, we will be looking at the language in John 1 and comparing it with the Genesis text.  We will be considering how this can help us approach the question ‘what is the Trinity?’

We have completed our science unit on sound and pupils have been so engaged with all the investigations we have carried out.  This week we are reviewing our learning and carrying out an end-of-unit assessment.

PE is on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon.  This term we focus on gymnastics and fitness.

Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
