Term 3, week 3

This week will look a little different, as we will be completing our January assessments. There will therefore be no Maths or English lessons in the mornings, but we will continue with the foundation subjects in the afternoons.

Whole Class Reading: this week, we will be investigating the life of Sir Isaac Newton, using a non-fiction text. The children will investigate the vocabulary, retrieve information and summarise the information, in pairs, individually and as a whole class.

Art: this week, we will be continuing the portrait unit, including investigating the art of Pablo Picasso.

RE: building on from last week, we will be investigating further aspects of how Sikhs worship.

Time and Place: we will investigate how volcanoes are formed.

PE: PE is on Wednesday and Friday as usual, and we will be continuing the gymnastics unit.

In addition, we will also be doing Science and Computing with Mrs Banner.

Homework will be issued on Tuesday as normal, and is due back the following Monday. In addition, please send your children in with their reading records on Mondays and Thursdays. If your child needs a book changed on other days, we will do our best to accommodate this.

If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards

Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
