Term 3, week 2

I have been very impressed with how the children have returned to school, settled and ready to learn.
This week in Maple Class:
English: in English this week, we will be continuing with the dragon theme! We will be using our persuasive skills to recruit a Dragon Detective, to find a special dragon who has gone missing.
Whole Class Reading: this week, we will be using the lyrics from the song 'Count on Me’. The children will investigate the vocabulary, retrieve information and discuss the meaning of the song. I am sure there will also be some singing too!
Maths: we will be continuing the new Multiplication and Division unit this week, focusing on multiples of 2, 3, 5 and 10, and looking at grouping and sharing.
Art: this week, we will be continuing the portrait unit, including investigating the art of Laura Wheeler Waring.
RE: we will be investigating further aspects of how Sikhs worship.
Time and Place: for the next few weeks, we will be discovering lots of facts about volcanoes.
PE: we will have PE on Wednesday and Friday as usual and will be continuing the gymnastics unit. Please add socks to your child’s PE kit, especially if they wear tights, as this unit requires the children to be bare-footed, so they need to remove tights.
In addition, we will also be doing Science and Computing with Mrs Banner.
Homework will be issued Tuesday as normal, and due back the following Monday. In addition, please send your children in with their reading records on Mondays and Thursdays. If your child needs a book changed on other days, we will do our best to accommodate this.
If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.
Kind regards
Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
