Phonics
Watch the video below and recap the level 2 sounds and actions again, encourage them to say the sound and do the action.
You can stop after 'r' for robot, or continue having a look at future sounds we will be learning.

After this, please support your child to practise writing the sound ‘r’, which you learnt yesterday.
They can write it on a whiteboard, paper, or anywhere suitable at home:

For further support, form the letter 'r' using writing repeater linked below. An adult can write 'r' a few times on a new page and click play to allow your child to see how 'r' is written.

Challenge: Have a go at writing words that start with the sound 'r'.

3. Introduce the word numeral: Explain that the written number (e.g., 1, 2, 3) is called a numeral, and it represents the amount on the dot card.
4. Matching numerals to objects: Can your child find the same number of objects in your house to match the dot card and the numeral?
-
For example: If they see a card with 2 dots and the numeral 2, they could collect 2 items (e.g., 2 socks, 2 spoons, 2 toys).
Drawing Club
-
Recap yesterday’s story (The First Christmas):
Encourage your child to retell the story in their own words before reading it again.
If they have forgotten parts, you can re-read it together.

-
Vocabulary focus:
Talk about the meanings of two of our special words:-
Travelled – going from one place to another
-
Manger – a feeder used to hold an animal’s food
-
-
Today’s drawing task:
Ask your child to draw another way that Mary and Joseph could have travelled to Bethlehem.
It can be any type of transport—real or imaginative! -
Writing challenge:
See if they can write the initial sound of what they have drawn, for example:
- car → c
- giraffe → g
- boat → b
Please encourage colouring by using coloured pencils, not coloured pens if possible.
