Term 1 Week 1&2

Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

We have had such a fantastic start to Reception, and we are so proud of how well the children have settled into their first weeks at school!

Our main focus has been on learning the rules and routines of school life. The children have been practising what to do when they come into school each morning, where to put their belongings, how to line up carefully, and where to sit on the carpet in their own special space. We have also spent time talking about our golden rules for the classroom, the outside area, and the rest of the school, helping us to create a safe and happy learning environment.

The children have really enjoyed exploring our areas in the classroom and outside. They have spent time in the reading corner looking at books, at the drawing table creating pictures and colouring, and in the construction area building imaginative models. The home corner has been very popular, as has our outdoor area, where children have had the chance to explore and play. Magnetic tiles, in particular, have been a big hit for building towers and creative structures!

We’ve also had lots of opportunities to play in the big playground and the outdoor classroom, helping the children to grow in confidence and begin forming new friendships

Another exciting milestone was having lunch in the school hall, where the children have been learning how to carry their trays and enjoy their meals together.

It has been a busy but brilliant start, and we are looking forward to all the exciting learning ahead in Acorn Class this term.
