Term 6, week 6

The week ahead in Maple Class:
Whole Class Reading this week continues with The Dark, by Lemony Snickett. We will investigate the vocabulary, retrieve information and make inferences, working in pairs, individually and as a class.
In English, we will continue using the book, ‘Leon and the Place Between’, finishing our own story writing based on the book, editing and proofreading.
In Maths, the main focus will continue to be on fractions, finding fractions of an amount and connecting this to what we already know about dividing quantities into equal parts using known division facts.
In Science, we will be continuing with our plant unit this week investigating the structure of seeds and their importance as a food source.
In Art, we will be continuing our individual still-life artwork.
In our Topic work, we will continue looking at the Ancient Egyptians, this week focusing on the life of Cleopatra.
Computing continues to build on the desktop publishing unit, and building our own PowerPoints. We are hoping to have an additional session again this week,
PE is on a Monday and Friday again this term, and we will be having a kickit session on Monday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school, including a water bottle and hat.
Homework is issued on a Tuesday and is due back the following Monday. If you have any questions about the homework, or if your child is having difficulty completing the work, please email, or leave a note in the homework book.
Reading Records can come in every day, but should always be sent in on a Monday and Thursday. Books will be changed on those days but we will also do our best to change books every day if necessary. If you have any questions about your child’s reading level, please get in touch.
If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.
Kind regards
Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
