Here is your learning for Wednesday 20th January 2021

Term 3 Week

Wednesday 20th January 2021

Good morning Chestnut Class!

Reading for 30 minutes.  You can do this in shorter chunks if you wish.  Please note down what you have read in your yellow reading record.

Spelling – We will revisit the homophones that we looked at on Monday.  I have attached a word list and a set of flash cards for them.  You can use the flash cards to test yourself on the meanings for each word, or you can play a game of pairs!

Whole class reader – Today is comprehension day and I have attached a set of questions that deal with different aspects of the text.  The questions have page number references to help you and I added these onto the pdf of Chapter 3 that I sent out on Monday.  I will send you some answer guidance on Thursday.

English – Goblinology.  I am very pleased with the finished Goblin reports that I have seen so far!  Today I would like you to read the instructions entitled How To Trap a Grass Goblin.  You will find this on pages 17 and 18.  There is also a link to an audio version at the top of page 17.  Afterwards, please carry out the activity on page 19 on word meanings.  Choose 4 of the words from the table and think of an illustration that will help you remember it.

Maths – Today we are learning about how to measure the perimeter of a rectilinear shape.  As usual, I have attached the learning video, the accompanying sheet and the answers.

Aut4.9.4 - Perimeter of rectilinear shapes on Vimeo

Maths fluency – I have set you two tasks on MyMaths.  They relate to multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.

RE – This week we are thinking about how Jesus challenged people to live their lives, with a focus on the story of the healing of the leper.  The sheet with information and questions is attached to the blog.

Have a lovely day,

Mrs Barter
