Term 1 Week 7

Here is an overview of your learning for term 1, week 7.

Ukulele lessons will continue with Mr Lawrence on Monday morning – last week we managed to play some duets!

Spelling and grammar - We will be working on spelling words with the letters ‘sc’ pronounced as ‘s’, as well as practising words from the statutory year 3 and 4 list.  In grammar sessions, we will be working on organising paragraphs.

In English we will be writing descriptive sentences based in senses.  We will be writing these together and then practising independent writing to create ideas for our own stories.  We will be exploring exciting adjectives and adverbs that will bring our writing to life.

In Maths we are finishing place value by refreshing our understanding of Roman Numerals by playing some games.  We will then move on to addition and subtraction, starting by adding 1s, 10s and 100s.

We have finished our guided reading text The Magic Finger and will this week read the whole text and talk about the key features of the narrative.  Over the course of the term the children have really developed their confidence in reading aloud with fluency and expression.  We have had great fun reading using the italics!

In RE we will finish our work on Creation and the Fall by thinking about how Christians say sorry and reflecting on what Christians learn from the creation story in Genesis

Science children will continue their hands on work by creating circuits that light bulbs or activate buzzers.

PE is on Monday afternoon with Mr Luckhurst.

Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on a Wednesday morning.

Homework will be issued this Thursday and is due in on the following Monday.
