Term 4, week 6

Please note that there will be no homework this week!

If your child would like to do some homework, there are plenty of ideas on the Wider Curriculum Matrix, pinned to the top of the blog. Additionally, time spent learning the times table facts would be very useful. There are lots of fun activities on Purple Mash.

General: On Tuesday, we will be doing some Easter activities in collaboration with the Acorn children. This will include some crafts and cooking! It is always great when the older children work with the younger children and is generally very well received.

On Thursday morning we will be walking to the Trinity Theatre to watch a film!

English: In English this week, we will continue our current unit, based on the book ‘Barbara throws a Wobbler’ by Nadia Shireen. This unit will enable us to investigate picture books and look at the relationship between text and illustrations. We will also use the book to discover more about how to regulate our emotions. This week we will focus on creating our own picture books.

Whole Class Reading: In Whole Class reading this week, we will continue looking at the lyrics of the song ‘When I Grow Up’, from Matilda. We will investigate the vocabulary and answer questions about the text, both as a class and individually.

Maths: In Maths this week we will be continuing the second multiplication and division unit, focusing on the links between multiplication and division. Times tables will be an ongoing feature, with the children completing a times table challenge each week.

PE will be on Monday with Mr Luckhurst and swimming, as usual, will be on Tuesday. The children will need full PE kit, swimming costume/trunks, a towel, swimming cap - this is required by the swimming pool, and goggles (although these are optional). There will also be occasions when we do additional PE sessions, so please can the children have their PE kit in school all week. Please remind the children to bring all their kit, including a towel!

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
