This Week's Home Learning

Term 2 Week 7 

Things are a little bit different this week because we are all learning from home. So here is a rundown of the home learning activities that will be added to the blog this week.

Monday

Reading- While learning from home, you should be aiming for at least 20 minutes reading per day. You could read the book that is in your book bag, pick a book from home or complete the reading comprehension activity that will be added to the blog on Monday.

Maths- We will upload a learning video for you to watch and a maths worksheet for you to complete.

English- We will introduce you to the spelling rules required to add the –ing suffix. We will then set a task for you to complete to practise these spelling rules.

P.E. We will add the link for an online PE activity for you to complete at home.

 

Tuesday

Reading- As well as your regular 20 minutes of reading. We will add the link for a video of Mr M reading the next chapter of The Witches by Roald Dahl. We will also add a short activity for you to complete relating to this part of the text.

Maths- We will upload a learning video for you to watch and a maths worksheet for you to complete.

English- We will add a link so you can watch and listen to a traditional Christmas song. We will also add a learning video which explains the word and language patterns used in this song. Finally, we will ask you to replicate some of these word and language patterns.

ICT- We will set you some challenges on PurpleMash relating to our current emailing topic. Finally, we will challenge you to send an email to your teacher keeping them updated on how your home learning is going this week.

 

Wednesday

Reading- At least 20 minutes of reading.

Maths- We will upload a final Maths learning video for the week and set some challenges for you to complete on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

English- Mr M will add a learning video modelling how to recreate the word and language patterns identified in yesterday’s lesson to create his own version of a traditional Christmas song. We will then challenge you to create your own version of the song.

RE- Mrs Johnson will get an RE lesson ready for you based on our current topic of Incarnation.

Nativity- Remember to tune into the Key Stage 1 Virtual Nativity ay 5:30pm. A link will be sent to you via ParentPay.

 

Thursday  

Reading- As well as your regular 20 minutes of reading. We will add the link for a video of Mr M reading the next chapter of The Witches by Roald Dahl. We will also add a short activity for you to complete relating to this part of the text.

Maths- Look back at the learning video that was posted on Wednesday. Use this understanding to complete the challenges. If you complete all the challenges and need something extra, contact us via the class email.

English- Spend time creating your own version of the traditional Christmas song. If you complete it, think about how you are going to record and present your song. Are you going to write it down and illustrate it? Are you going to record yourself singing it? Whatever you choose, we would love to see/hear it so please send it in to the class email so we can enjoy it, give you some feedback and add it to the blog.

P.E. We will add the link for an online PE activity for you to complete at home.

 

Friday

Reading- At least 20 minutes of reading.

Maths- Look back at the learning video that was posted on Wednesday. Use this understanding to complete the challenges. If you complete all the challenges and need something extra, contact us via the class email.

English- Spend time creating your own version of the traditional Christmas song. If you complete it, think about how you are going to record and present your song. Are you going to write it down and illustrate it? Are you going to record yourself singing it? Whatever you choose, we would love to see/hear it so please send it in to the class email so we can enjoy it and give you some feedback.

Design/Art- Put on some of your favourite Christmas music, get a Christmas snack, and make some Christmas decorations to decorate your house. You could make paper chains or snowflakes. You could make ornaments to hang on the tree. You could even make a wreath to hang on your front door. Whatever you do, make sure you send in a picture of it so we can add it to the blog.
