Term 5 Week 2

Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 22nd April 2024.

In our main phonics lessons we will be learning about the ‘er and ‘ing’ suffixes. We will also be reading the words ‘bought’ and ‘favourite’ and writing the words ‘more’ and ‘before’. In our afternoon phonics sessions, we will be revisiting alternative ways of making the ‘ai’ sound as part of our revision for the phonics screening in June.

In English, we will be using the story ‘The Great Explorer’ by Chris Judge as the basis for our work. This week we will be using past tense verbs to write some diary entries for our explorer, who is called Tom.

In Maths, we will be recognising equal groups, adding equal groups and making arrays.

This week in RE we will be learning about Judaism and the story of David and Goliath. In Computing, we will be learning about some of the buttons on a computer keyboard and what they do.

In Art, we will be starting to look at the work of Andy Goldsworthy and his use of nature and natural resources in his sculptures and artwork.

Willow class has PE on Monday morning and Thursday morning. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school on these days. This term we will be performing dance sequences (Monday) and developing our athletic skills in preparation for sports day next term (Thursday).
