Term 5 Week 1

Welcome back. We hope you enjoyed the Easter break and are ready for the new term. Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 15th April 2024. Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

In our Phonics lessons we will be learning about words containing the ‘tch’ trigraph, such as catch, witch and fetch. We will also be reading the words ‘door’ and ‘floor’, writing the words ‘Wednesday’ and ‘brother’.

In English, we will be using the story ‘The Great Explorer’ by Chris Judge as the basis for our work for the next two weeks. This week we will be writing our own packing list and starting to construct a story plan.

In Maths, we will be practising counting forwards and backwards in 2s, 5s and 10s.

We are starting a new topic in RE. Over the next two terms we will be listening to stories from different faiths and learning about different places of worship. This week we will be learning about Judaism and some of its traditions.

As part of our Science work we will be talking about what we know about plants and will be thinking about what things a seed or a bulb needs to help it grow.

Willow class will still have PE on Monday morning and Thursday morning, so please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school on these days. This term we will be learning about dance and developing our athletic skills in preparation for sports day next term.

If you have any questions or need help with anything, please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
