Term 3 Week 3

Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 22nd January 2024.

In Phonics, we will be learning to read and write words containing the ‘ow’ digraph (such as slow, own and window) and the ‘oe’ digraph (such as toe, doe and goes), which both make the ‘oa’ sound in some words. We will also be reading the words ‘once’ and ‘please’ and writing the words ‘thought’ and ‘through’.

In English, we will be starting some work on non-chronological reports. This week we will be talking about the features of a non-chronological report and we will then start to plan a non-chronological report about Florence Nightingale, who we have been learning about in our Time and Place lessons.

In Maths, we will be continuing our work on place value for numbers up to 20. This week we will be comparing and ordering numbers to 20. We will then start to add by counting on.

In Computing, we will be planning routes and giving commands to move the Bee-Bots from one location to another. In RE, we will be discussing how Jesus gives Christians instructions about how to behave through the stories he tells. In Art, we will be continuing to use poster paints to create our own wave pictures inspired by Miranda Lloyd. We will also be continuing to learn about animals in Science.
