Term 3 Week 2

Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 15th January 2024.

This week we will be doing some assessments to check on the children’s progress and to identify any gaps in their knowledge for reading, writing and maths.

In Phonics, we will be learning to read and write words containing the ‘au’ digraph (such as August, autumn and launch) and the ‘aw’ digraph (such as paw, claw and draw). We will also be reading the words ‘friend’ and ‘also’ and writing the words ‘who’ and ‘why’.

In Maths, we will be continuing our work on place value for numbers up to 20. This week we will be finding ways to represent 20, finding one more and one less than different numbers up to 20. We will also be using number lines to help us locate numbers and find missing numbers.

In Art, we will be looking at a tree picture by Miranda Lloyd and creating our own picture using black pens and crayons. In computing, we will be programming the Bee-Bots to move forwards, backwards, left and right.

In RE, we will be continuing to learn about the story of Matthew the Tax Collector and will think about what this story teaches Christians around the theme of friendship and God’s love.
