Term 1 Week 7

Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 16th October 2023.

This week there are parent consultations on Monday and Tuesday (in the classroom) and Thursday (in the hall) after school. Please sign up on Arbor if you have not already done so. If you are unable to attend on those days, please speak to Mrs Pring and she will try to sort out an alternative day to meet with you. On Friday there is an inset day, so there will be no children in school.

We have reached the final week of this term and it has been lovely to see how the children have settled into the Year 1 routines.

In Phonics, we will be learning about the ‘i-e’ and ‘o-e’ split digraph sounds. We will also be reading the words ‘people’ and ‘love’ and writing the words ‘do’ and ‘when’.

In Maths, we are learning about number fact families, number bonds within 10 and how to work systematically to find all the possible answers to a maths problem.

This week in English we will be continuing to work on writing simple sentences using an actor and action. For example, I can jump.

On Monday afternoon, the class will be going to the church, so Father John can talk to us about what Mass is and explain what happens during it.

In Science, we will be continuing our work on everyday materials and seasonal changes.

If you have any questions or need help with anything, please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
