Term 3 Week 2

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 17th January 2022

This week we will be taking part in a whole school art project inspired by the work of Katsushika Hokusai and his art piece entitled ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’. Activities will be spread across Wednesday and Thursday and are aimed at developing specific skills such as colour mixing, sketching and exploring the use of shapes and lines. We have a drama workshop on Wednesday afternoon and will also be making digital display as part of our activities.

In our Phonics lesson we will be learning about the ‘ue’ and ‘ew’ sound and how they make either an ‘oo’ or a ‘yoo’ sound in different words.

As part of our English work, we will be learning about the features of non-chronological reports and starting to plan our own report.

In Maths we will be learning more about the properties 2D and 3D shapes and their properties.

In our Science lesson we will be identifying and describing animals which are part of the Fish and Reptile animal groups and writing animal facts.

In RE this week we will be thinking about ways in which Jesus instructs people on how to behave through his actions and the stories he tells.

Due to the drama workshop and art project, there will be no PE Wednesday afternoon. However, Willow Class will have PE on Thursday morning and this will be on the playground so please bring a jumper.

If you have any questions or need help with anything please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
