Term 6 Week 5

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 5th July 2021.

On Monday afternoon we will be taking part in the Young Readers Story Club Festival and will be listening to stories by Cecelia Knapp and Wendy Shearer.

In Phonics we will be revisiting some letter sounds that the children need to practise and learning about the ‘un’ prefix. In English we will be continuing to look at the book Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett and the children will be designing and writing their own postcard. In Maths we will be continuing to learn about time. This week we will be learning to read ‘half past’ times and how to write o’clock and half past times. In RE we will be learning about the Aboriginal story of creation and also about Aboriginal dreamtime. We will be creating some Aboriginal dot art and learning about how pictures are used to tell stories. In Science we will be talking about seasonal changes and what happens to trees and plants in summer. This week we will also be finishing off our assessments on the children’s progress in reading, phonics and maths.
