Term 4 Week 3

Here is an overview for week commencing 8th March 2021.

We are really excited about welcoming everyone back to the classroom this week! On Monday we will be settling back into school, going over the routines and rules for keeping us safe in school and catching up with our classroom friends.

In English we are continuing to focus on the story of Traction Man and will be creating some stories about him. To start the week, we are going to create an advert for Traction Man to tell people all about him and why he is a good action toy to have. Then we are going to create a storyline about what happens to Traction Man in a new adventure, including a villain and who Traction Man is going to rescue.

In Maths we are continuing to learn about measuring length. We will be using a ruler to measure objects in centimetres, as well as non-standard measures like cubes and paperclips. We will also look at adding the length of two objects together and finding the difference between two lengths.

In Phonics we will be recapping and learning different ways of making the ‘oa’ sound including: oa, oe, ow, o and the split digraph o-e.

In RE we are going to explore the key question: ‘Why does Easter matter to Christians?’ This week we will be talking about part of the Easter story.

In Art and Design we are going to continue looking at the artwork of Beatriz Milhazes and create a collagraph. We will also be working on a whole class display to celebrate us being back together.

PE will be on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, please make sure your child is wearing suitable PE kit for the day. It is helpful if children do not wear earrings to school on PE days.

Reading books will be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please remember to write “finished” next to the book title in your child’s reading record if their book needs to be changed.  If possible you should read with your child for 10 minutes each day. If your child is struggling with particular words or a particular book, please indicate this in their reading record so that we are aware and can make adjustments.

If you are continuing to learn from home for any reason, please contact us directly using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk) so we can set you some home learning.
