Term 5 Week 4

Here is an outline of your learning for term 5, week 4:
Term 5 Week 4 – overview
What a wonderful show the pupils of years 3 and 4 put on at the Trinity Theatre last week! We are all so proud of them and hope you enjoyed the occasion. Thank you for all the support you gave us which enabled this incredible event to go ahead.
We have our usual ukulele lesson on Monday afternoon.
This week, we have some changes to the routine! On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings we will be based in the hall with year 5, for our classroom to be used for SATs. We will use this as an opportunity to do some music by studying a composer and creating our own pieces of music. We also have 5 swimming lessons this week (and 5 the following week) from 10.30-12. This is an extraordinary opportunity for all children to have swimming lessons. A list of what they need has been sent out already.
Spelling and grammar – we will be adding the prefixes sub, anti and auto to root words.
In Maths, we will continue to practise times tables in preparation for the national assessment at the beginning of June. We will also return to decimals by diving a 1-digit number by 10, dividing a 2-digit number by 10 and looking at 100ths as decimals.
We will pick up states of matter in science, investigating whether gas has weight.
In our final geography lesson, we will be looking at the equator, the tropics, the hemispheres and lines of longitude and latitude.
Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due on the following Monday.
