Term 3, week 4

I am so looking forward to being back in Maple Class this week! I have missed the children, and the whole school community, and am very excited to hear all the children’s news – plus I can’t wait to see all the wonderful work they have done with Mrs Atkinson and Mrs Tompsett.

In maths this week, we will continue to look at multiplication and division, and will be following up on the money unit Mrs Tompsett started. We will work on dividing by 3, moving on to multiplying and dividing by 4.

In English, we are aiming to complete the non-chronological reports about Sir David Attenborough, and I am hoping to hear all about the poetry the class have been working on.

Whole class reading will feature Charlotte’s Web, by E.B. White, and we will focus on retrieval and explanations surrounding the text.

We will spend some time examining Pop Art this week, with the children creating their own pop art portraits.

Next week’s blog will hopefully include some examples of the children’s work and a more comprehensive outline of the RE focus for the remainder of this term with Mrs Johnson.

Maple class have PE on Thursdays and Fridays, both sessions will be with Mr Luckhurst.

Homework will be sent out on Tuesday as usual, with details also on the class blog. Reading Records should come into school daily and will generally be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We ask that the children aim to read daily, ideally with an adult and please do write a comment in their reading records to tell us how they are getting on. We are encouraging the children to be more independent with their homework and reading records, so please do remind them to put the relevant books in the basket in class.

As usual, I am happy to answer any questions you may have so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
