Here is your home learning for Tuesday 19th January 2021

Term 3 Week 3

Tuesday 19th January 2021

Good morning Chestnut Class!

Reading for 30 minutes.  You can do this in shorter chunks if you wish.  Please note down what you have read in your yellow reading record.

Grammar – This week we will be thinking about when NOT to use an apostrophe!  Sometimes when we do a lot of work on apostrophes, we start putting them in even when there isn’t a contraction or when we are not showing possession.  I have attached a powerpoint to watch today and you may also want to refer to it on Thursday when we revisit the subject.  I have attached a series of 3 sheets, with answers, but please pick which sheet you want to do rather than all of them.

Whole class reader - Please re-read Chapter 3 of The Iron Man and research the meaning of any words you are unsure of.

English – Goblinology.  Today is the day to ‘publish’ you Goblin report!  Using the ideas you developed last week, I would like you to produce a visually appealing report on your Goblin.  Please be as imaginative as possible with headings, sub-headings, illustrations, diagrams and flaps.  I would love to see these when they are done!

Maths – Today we are learning about how to measure the perimeter of a rectangle.  As usual, I have attached the learning video, the accompanying sheet and the answers.

Maths fluency – Challenge yourself on Hit the Button again.  You can practise times tables, and also use the halves and doubles games.  Being able to double numbers quickly will help when you are calculating the perimeter of a rectangle!

Science – Today you will be learning about what happens when you heat up a substance or cool it down.  Think about the changes of state that occur and see if you can think of your own examples!

What happens when you heat or cool each state of matter? (thenational.academy)

Have a lovely day,
