Your learning for Wednesday 6th January

Term 3 Week 1

Wednesday 6th January 2021

Good morning Chestnut Class!

Your work for the day is as follows:

Reading for 30 minutes.  You can do this in shorter chunks if you wish.  Please note down what you have read in your yellow reading record.

Grammar – I have attached a teaching powerpoint and worksheets for recognising apostrophes.  There are 3 worksheets but I do not expect you to do all of them.  They gradually increase in challenge, so please choose the one you would like to tackle.  The answers are on the last page

Whole class reading – Please re-read the first chapter of the Iron Man.  Revisit any of the unfamiliar words you had to look up yesterday.  Please do that comprehension questions attached to this post.

English – Goblinology booklet.  Today I would like you to carry out the activity on page 4 ‘ology’ words.  Then I would like you to read the ‘different types of goblins’ section on page 5.  Finally, have a go at drawing your own goblin and thinking of 4 facts for it, on page 6.

Maths – please watch the White Rose teaching video on https://vimeo.com/467395290

You can then complete the corresponding sheet and afterwards mark it using the attached answer sheet.

Please spend some time practising your times tables using Purple Mash. You can use the speed test and try to challenge yourself to include tables from 1-12. Your log on details are in the front of your homework book, which you took home at Christmas. If you do not have your log on, please email me at chestnut@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk and I can provide them for you.

Topic work – read the powerpoint ‘what is parliament?’ and use that to complete the activity sheet with the same title.
