This Week's Learning

Term 2 Week 4

In English this week, we are taking a break from our narrative writing to focus on our shadow puppet nativity play. In class, we are going to make puppets and use them to act out the scenes from the nativity that we recorded the audio for last week. Then, in small groups we are going to work in the shadow theatre that has been built in the hall to record the scenes for our virtual nativity. Wish us luck!

Please remember to bring your 'Townsperson' costumes in by this Friday. We are going to film the songs next week!

In Maths, we are going to focus on adding and subtracting multiples of 10. We will begin by using dines blocks to build 2-digit numbers and then explore how adding and taking away 10 changes the total value. We will use place value grids and 100 squares to help us spot patterns and make generalised statements. Finally, we will use this understanding to answer arithmetic questions which require us to add or subtract multiples of 10.

If you would like to practise these skills at home then please take the time to watch these learning videos:

In ICT we are going to focus on debugging programmes. We have set some debugging challenges on PurpleMash if you would like to practise these skills at home.

In Art and Design, we are going to continue to use clay to make tiles inspired by scenes from Aaron Becker’s Journey.

In RE, we will continue to explore incarnation and why Christmas is an important holiday for Christians.
