Using Bar Models to Find Fractions of Amounts

This week, in Maths lessons we are going to use bar models to find fractions of amounts.

Can you use this model to help you find 3/4 of 8?

Can you draw your own bar models to help you solve the following problems:

Find 2/3 of 9

Find 2/4 of 16

Find 1/3 of 12

If you are looking for a really big challenge. Can you use a bar model to solve this tricky question?

Peter has 12 toy cars. He separates his toy cars into four equal groups. He sells ¼ of them. How many does he have left?

If you solve this problem please bring it in and show Mr Mackinnon. He would be really impressed!
