Term 6 Week 3

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 21st June.

This week we will be learning about the suffixes er  and est and using the story “I’m the HAPPIEST” by Anna Shuttlewood to explore words with this spelling pattern. In English we will be writing some more of our adventure story. We will be writing about who our explorer meets, what problem they encounter and how they solve it. In Maths we will be learning about money. This will involve recognising different coins and notes and counting using different coins. We will also be finishing our place value work for numbers to 100.

In RE we will be learning about the Buddhist story of Siddhartha and the Swan. We will then do some activities based on the story. In our topic work we will be learning about Asia and the children are going to create a jungle picture. In Science we will be learning about the shape of different tree leaves. On Thursday morning we are holding our sports day event on the school field, weather permitting, at 10:45am. Please feel free to join us if you wish to.

Over the last couple of weeks, some children have been sharing stories that they have created at home. We have enjoyed listening to these stories and discovered that we have some talented storytellers. For home learning this week we are encouraging the children to bring in stories that they create at home. The idea is that we will type up the children’s stories and keep them in the class book corner for other children to look at.
