Term 5, week 2

What are we learning this week...

We are continuing with 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King Smith in our class reading sessions. We are coming to the end of this book now and feel the children have got a lot out of it. There is some difficult language and they have risen to the challenge of reading and understanding.

English - We are continuing with 'Cinderella of the Nile' by Marjan Vafaeian, this week we are going to focus on character descriptions and designing story maps.

Maths - Each child has been working extremely hard on understanding fractions. We are going to be looking at equivalent fractions this week and understanding fractions within our name. We will be using a fraction wall to help us.

Topic - The children were very excited to start our topic on Ancient Egypt and thinking of all the things we want to find out about. We will be looking at a timeline of the civilisations history this week and putting it in context against Britain at the same time.

Home learning

Reading - Reading books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday this week.

Online - A 2do has been set on PurpleMash for a pizza game. This is a game we have played a number of times in class, so the children will understand how it works. Can they see what level they can reach?

In books - Spellings have been added this will be tested next week on Tuesday 4th.

Activity Matrix - New for this week is a Home Learning Activity Matrix. Completion of these activities is not compulsory and families can choose how many of these activities they complete each term. If your child would like to share a completed wider curriculum activity with us, they can put it in to their home learning book and hand it in or send it in via the class email address.

Any questions then please email us.
