Remember to read for at least 20 minutes at home today. This can be any type of text – fiction book, non-fiction, comic, newspaper, etc. A reading comprehension has been included with this blog for you to complete if you wish.

Phonics

Today we are learning about the split digraph ‘u-e’ sound. This digraph makes a ‘yoo’ sound in some words (like cube, tune and cute) and makes an ‘oo’ sound in other words (like flute, rude and June). Below are some videos to watch going through some ‘u-e’ sound words.

Talk about the ‘u-e’ sound.  Can you say the sound?  Can you write the sound? Look at the activity sheet attached to this blog. Fill in the missing ‘u-e’ sound for each word. Try reading each word. Can you write a sentence with one of the u-e words in?

Writing

Last week we were writing fact files about animals. Today we would like you to write a fact file about you. You can choose how to organise your fact file but remember to include a title. It would be good to include things like your favourite colour or food and your age. If we weren’t in lockdown…What is your favourite thing to do? Where do you like to visit? What is your favourite sound? Can you explain why you like particular things? For example, I like going to the seaside because I love the sound of the waves coming in. Please send in copies of your fact files because we would really love to read them.

Maths Fluency

Keep practising your subtraction number bonds for 10. Get 10 objects from your house to help check your answers. Count out your 10 objects and write 10-0 =­­___. How many are left if you subtract 0 from 10?  The answer is 10. Now move onto 10-1=___ and work out the answer. What would 10 subtract 2 be? If you have ten and take away 3, how many are left? See how many different subtraction numbers you can find.

RE

This week we are continuing to think about how Christians share the Good News with others. Work through the activities in the information pack attached to this blog. This week the activities focus on helping others. The pack contains information about a boy called Malachi and explains how his generosity and desire to help those who were homeless inspired the rest of his church to help local people.
