Spelling and grammar – we will be looking at using apostrophes for possession, with plural nouns. This week we will focus on irregular plurals.
In English we will continue our unit looking at the Anglo-Saxon epic poem, Beowulf. This week we will be working on setting description, looking at the atmosphere created in the text. Then we will use thesaurus to create work banks for our own narratives. We will then spend 2 days planning our own stories!
In Maths, we will begin part 2 of our fractions unit. We will look at making a whole with tenths, hundredths and partitioning decimals. This week we will be taking the national times tables assessment.
In science, we will begin learning about the human digestive system. We will start with learning about teeth with an investigation into things that affect tooth enamel! This week we will be recording the results from our experiment. We will then draw our conclusion about what affects tooth enamel and evaluate our experiment.
In RE, we will be beginning a unit of learning on Hindu Dharma. We will be learning about Hinduism having one supreme being, despite there being many hundreds of gods and goddesses.
Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
