Term 5 Week 1

Welcome back. We hope you enjoyed the Easter break and are ready for the new term. Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 21st April 2025.
In our Phonics lessons we will be learning about words containing the ‘ed’ suffix, such as ‘jumped’, ‘looked’ and ‘gasped’. We will also be reading the words ‘April’ and ‘July’ and writing the words ‘please’ and ‘once’.
This week in English, we will be reading the story Jasper’s Beanstalk by Nick Butterworth and completing some activities using the past tense.
On Tuesday morning we will be watching a puppet show in the school hall called Anansi and the lost sun, which is very exciting.
In Maths, we will be practising counting forwards and backwards in 2s, 5s and 10s.
We are starting a new topic in RE. Over the next two terms we will be listening to stories from different faiths and learning about different places of worship. This week we will be learning about Judaism and some of its traditions.
As part of our Science work, we will be talking about what we know about plants and will be thinking about what things a seed or a bulb needs to help them grow.
Willow class will still have PE on Thursday morning this week, so please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school.
If you have any questions or need help with anything, please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
